To Whom It May Concern:
Hello
I am David Chao, the youth fundraising captain for a project called the
Asia House being headed by the Asia Society of Texas, a nonprofit
organization.
The
Asia Society of Texas is taking part in a Project called the Asia House
in Houston. The Asia House will also be the permanent home for Asia
Society Texas, both for its activities and to provide a convening place
for Houston's Asian American communities and the city of Houston. In
creating an Asia House in Houston, Asia Society Texas will provide a
place for presenting vibrant cultural traditions, building strategic
coalitions, and creating shared understandings. The 38,000 square feet
building will be centrally located in the Museum District on a two acre
site at the corner of Southmore and Caroline and will include two
galleries to display Asian art. Works from the Asia Society's permanent
collection, the Mr. & Mrs. John D. Rockefeller III Collection of
Asian Art will be exhibited in one gallery while the other gallery will
be designated for touring exhibitions.
Since
1979, Asia Society Texas has been a leader in bringing together members
of the public, students, educators, corporate executives and community
leaders to share views and experiences and learn form each other.
Asia house will allow the Society to play an even larger role in strengthening relationships and deepening understandings.
The Asia
House is estimated to cost $20 million dollars and all donations to
Asia House will be matched dollar for dollar by a generous $10 million
Invitational Match Program pledged by Mrs. Nancy C. Allen and Mrs.
Louisa S. Sarofim. Representing the Taiwanese community in Houston, we
have pledged to contribute $25000 and they will hang a Taiwan plaque in honor of our contributions.
Any donations will be helpful to the completion of the Asia House.
Thank you,
Youth Fundraising Captain
David Chao
